Call it my birthday, call it the full moon, call it we’re already 3 months into 2017. Either way, I’ve had quite a few CTJ (“Come to Jesus”) moments recently. I thought of all the doubts, hardships, and self-criticisms of the past few years. I thought of all the projects that fell through and the jobs we didn’t book.
Then I took a step back and looked at what had been accomplished and what’s to come.

Everything we go through in life, good and bad, is a gift. Hardships do not make you any less “successful”. They are the foundation to your success. In this industry, heck, in this world we live in today, many feel insecure to be honest about their hardships. How can you not be when you scroll through your feed and you see everyone just killing it at life….or so we are led to believe.
I’m here to tell you that you can stop feeling bad for yourself. When someone books a job that you think you deserve, stop and say thank you. When a project you are really excited about falls through, stop and say thank you. Say thank you because you were just given another building block. Success is built on adversity. Say thank you.

Adversity and hardships are unavoidable in life, so don’t make them anymore difficult by getting your self-worth and self-doubt involved. Enjoy the journey because that’s all we’ve got.
